The United States last week surpassed China as the number one market for climate technology fundraising in the first half of 2024. For the week US equities closed lower, with the S&P 500 down -3.93% and -5.21% respectively. In Europe, last week the EU, along with the US and UK signed the first international treaty on the use of Artificial Intelligence which will be legally binding. In the UK, last week 131 clean energy projects were granted state subsidies, a new record for the country. For the week, European and UK markets closed lower, down between -2.27% and -4.31%. In Ireland, greenhouse gas emissions produced by Ireland’s electricity sector fell to their lowest level in decades. In Asia Pacific, major investment banks last week lowered their GDP forecasts for China for the rest of 2024.
